Snow Removal

Guidelines and Information

Sidewalks

Wilkes-Barre City residents are reminded to remove snow from sidewalks within 24 hours of snowfall. Don't forget to assist elderly neighbors with this effort to ensure that your neighborhood is safe.

Roadways

It is the policy of the City of Wilkes-Barre to remove snow and ice from the roadways in an efficient and effective manner in order to provide safe roadways for the public. While it is not possible to eliminate all of the impacts of snow and ice, it is the City's policy to address snow removal efforts in the priority order established annually by the Department of Public Works. You can assist the City in this endeavor by refraining from shoveling or plowing snow into the roadway. If you have a concern or question regarding snow removal, please contact our Department of Public Works at 570-208-4240.

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 requires nondiscrimination in all programs, services, and activities of state and local government for qualified individuals with disabilities. If you have a qualifying disability and need assistance accessing a City of Wilkes-Barre program, service or activity, including snow removal, please contact the City's ADA Coordinator at 570-208-4268 or at cjensen@wilkes-barre.pa.us and you will receive a response as soon as possible but no later than twenty-four (24) hours.
