WILKES-BARRE - The City of Wilkes-Barre announces that the 2011 Street Cleaning Program will continue through the summer and fall starting on Monday, July 18. The city had enormous success with the spring cleaning program and expects similar results through the upcoming 12 week program.
The Street cleaning schedule is as follows: the Heights next week from July 18-22, Mayflower and Iron Triangle from July 25-28, Rolling Mill Hill and Goose Island from August 1-5, South Wilkes-Barre #1 [Division to Academy] from August 8-10, South Wilkes-Barre #2 [from Horton to South] from August 9-12, North End from August 15-16, Center City on August 17, East End from August 18-19, Parsons from August 17-19, and Miners Mills from August 25-26. The program will recycle starting on August 29 in the Heights and conclude on October 7 in Miners Mills. The full schedule is published on the city's website and social media outlets. Copies of the schedule will also be available in the Code Enforcement and Tax Office on the 1st floor of Wilkes-Barre City Hall.
Streets scheduled to be cleaned will be posted a day before to remind residents of their scheduled day. Residents are asked to remove their vehicles from the street in order to allow the street to be properly cleaned. The city thanks residents in advance for their cooperation.
