Contractor License Expiration Notice

       The City of Wilkes-Barre has established, maintains, and is responsible for the enforcement of a variety of municipal codes, City ordinances, and rehabilitation programs that has been created to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City of Wilkes-Barre.  The Code Enforcement Office enforces the International Code Council, International Building Code, International Residential Code,  and the National Electrical Code regulations for its various building/plumbing/electrical inspections.  The Code Enforcement Department also promotes and maintains a safe and desirable living and working environment by the enforcement of the codes and use of rehabilitation programs that will enhance the quality of life in our City and help maintain healthy neighborhoods free of unsightly or hazardous conditions that can have a negative impact on surrounding property values.  The Code Enforcement Office also works with neighborhood associations, public service agencies and other City departments to facilitate voluntary compliance with City laws and codes, assist community self-help programs, develop public outreach programs, and establish community priorities for enforcement programs.

The City of Wilkes-Barre requires all commercial renovations, fit-outs or construction plans to be reviewed by a city code officer before a permit will be issued.

In order to take the test, the applicant information and $150.00 test fee must be submitted to the City of Wilkes-Barre's Code Enforcement Office no later thank Thursday, March 15th, 2012. The Applications for the examinations can be picked up at the Code Enforcement Office located on the first floor of City Hall, 40 E.
